Hot Football Transfer Gossip: Chelsea ‘target Brozovic, Alonso’, Liverpool in ‘£30m Luan bid’, Arsenal ‘want £11m Almiron’.

With just two days left until you know what, the mad scramble for players is reaching its climax in a manner not dissimilar to Dale Winton’s Supermarket Sweep. Every Premier League team is desperately pushing a trolley around football’s global transfer market, all pretence of “playing it cool” having long gone, but the shelves are getting increasingly bare and the products remaining are of questionable quality.

Chelsea are instead loading up on quantity, with the Mail reporting that Antonio Conte is set to sign Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso and Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic for a combined £48m, despite having spent the summer chasing more prestigious players.

Leicester have spotted a “two for one” deal at Sporting Lisbon, with the Guardian reporting that the Foxes are prepared to make a £50m double swoop for midfielder Adrien Silva and striker Islam Slimani.

Silva has apparently confirmed the switch saying, “Leicester is very interesting and corresponds to my career goals.” He sounds fun.

Hull City are throwing whatever they can get their hands on into their trolley and will survey the actual items later.

The Tigers are set to sign Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez on loan and spend £10m on Derby’s Jeff Hendrick (Star), buy Bristol City striker Jonathan Kodjia for £14m (Mirror) and snap up Manchester United’s Will Keane for about £1m (ESPN).

Hull boss Mike Phelan also wants Tottenham’s Ryan Mason, but the Star says the midfielder is more likely to end up at Sunderland in an £8m deal.

Liverpool are in the exotic players aisle, where they have spotted Brazil’s 23-year-old Olympic Games star Luan. The Sun says the Reds could offer Gremio £30m for the forward in a “fresh blow to Daniel Sturridge”.

The potential departure of Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace (Star) means the Eagles have got some more space in their trolley, which they are planning to fill with cut-price Chelsea striker Loic Remy (Express) and £6.5m-rated Genoa midfielder Tomas Rincon (Mail).

Elsewhere, Arsenal are aiming to spend their excess cash on £11m-rated Paraguayan forward Miguel Almiron (Sun), Everton will try again to drag Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini to the bagging area after having a £19.6m bid rejected (Express) and Newcastle are set to squeeze West Brom’s Calum McManaman into their already brimming trolley (Sky Sports).

Finally, in the reduced items section, Manchester City are set to heavily subsidise Eliaquim Mangala’s huge wages to get rid of him (Daily Record), while Palermo are toying with the idea of buying Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli despite fearing he might already be past his sell-by date (Media Gol).
