Kenya thrashes France at the Cape Town sevens rugby tournament.

Kenya Sevens put themselves in a fine position to qualify for the Main Cup competition after a resounding 33-14 victory over France in their Group B opener at the Cape Town Sevens, South Africa.

Kenya went into the break holding a 12-7 lead thanks to tries from Willy Ambaka and Billy Odhiambo.

The Shujaas were beaten 24-14 by the French in the Pool stages in Dubai last weekend but the East African powerhouse were a different animal at the Cape Town Stadium.

Ambaka extended Kenya’s advantage immediately after the break with a converted try and Leonard Mugaisi made it 24-7, paving the way for Odhiambo to grab his second of the match to make the scoreline 33-7 with just minutes to go.

The French had the final say as Terry Bouhraoua chalked over. Shujaa were however never at risk of blowing it and danced to a deserved 33-14 win which puts them in the driving seat ahead of their next pool matches against Fiji and Japan.
