Did Alvaro Morata banish the ghost of Fernando Torres at the King Power Stadium?

For 41 minutes, Alvaro Morata had produced a more than passable impersonation of Fernando Torres in a Chelsea shirt.

He had looked like he wanted to be anywhere but in front of goal and was spending most of his time on his backside complaining to referee Craig Pawson.

But put through by Willian, Morata successfully ignored his inner-Torres and lifted the ball superbly over Kasper Schmeichel for his first goal of 2018.

Both for him and for Chelsea, it could not have been timelier. The Blues badly needed a lift after their Champions League defeat to Barcelona, and the striker needed to prove a point.

Having seen Olivier Giroud preferred to him in Barcelona, Morata had also seen his place in the Spain squad taken by a certain Diego Costa last week.
