Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi on Tuesday expressed his displeasure over the state of the Abuja Stadium pitch. The stadium was refurbished recently.
Keshi, who spoke to reporters after the Eagles’ first training at the stadium ahead of their 2014 World Cup qualifying playoff against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa, said the pitch was not good enough for football.
“From what I saw, it is a sandy pitch and it is hard; it will be very difficult for the players to play on it, especially the goalkeepers because it is sharp sand,” Keshi was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
“If it rains, I think, the pitch will be water-logged.”
Culled from Punch.
