Wayne Rooney reveals the two best footballers he’s ever played alongside.

Wayne rooney says that Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo are the best players he has ever played alongside.

The Manchester United captain and Scholes were involved in a public spat earlier this season, after the former midfielder issued a damning assessment of the 29-year-old’s form in a column for Paddy Power.

“There’s a chance he’s worn out,” Scholes wrote. “Wayne’s peak may have been a lot younger than what we’d expect of footballers traditionally.”

Rooney hit back by claiming that he was “not interested” in Scholes’ assessment, while questioning his qualifications, but he has now praised the 40-year-old, picking him alongside Ballon d’Or holder Ronaldo as the best player he has worked with.

“There’s been so many,” said Rooney during a Q&A session.

“I can tell you two. Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes.

“Those two, for different reasons, have been fantastic.”

Ronaldo won the Champions League and three Premier League titles, as well as the FA Cup and the Uefa Super Cup, at United, and also won the first of his two Ballon d’Or’s at Old Trafford.

Scholes is one of the most decorated players in the history of English football and has won 11 Premier League titles, as well as three FA Cups, two Champions League winners’ medals and two League Cups.
