Everton have announced they have agreed to buy Bramley-Moore Dock for their proposed new stadium for £300million.
The Premier League club has reached an agreement with the dock’s landowners, Peel Holdings, to buy the site on the River Mersey.
The future of Goodison Park, their home since 1892, has been under threat with the club looking into building a new stadium for some time.
The dock was announced as the preferred site for the club’s proposed new stadium back in January, after previous plans to build at Walton Hall Park were blocked by local resident.
Planning permission would have to be given for any future development.
