D’Tigers player Ike Diogu is eager to play in the 2017 FIBA AfroBasket after missing the 2015 edition because of a leg injury.
Diogu was not part of D’Tigers squad that won the 2015 AfroBasket in Rades, Tunisia.
Now back in the team, the 33-year-old power forward is looking forward to the championship which holds in Congo in August.
“This FIBA AfroBasket will be very tough. Those teams will be extremely tough to beat,” he told Complete Sports in an interview.
“I am looking forward to having a healthy successful FIBA AfroBasket because last time I was injured.
“So for me, this is a huge summer to show everyone in Africa I’m back healthy and ready to help us win a championship God willing.”
Nigeria have been grouped with Senegal, Tunisia and Angola and Diogu is ready for the tough fight.
“Senegal, Tunisia, Angola are so talented it will be a dogfight to win it all. But I’m excited about the challenge,” he added.
“I can only speak for myself and I’m looking forward to defending the crown in Congo.
The FIBA AfroBasket 2017 is scheduled to take place from August 19-30 in Congo.
