What Chelsea need to do to challenge for Champions League AND Premier League glory next term.

Antonio Conte’s first season as Chelsea manager was a mightily impressive one. While it ended in disappointment with an FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal, they did well to hold off a young and resurgent Tottenham Hotspur side to win the Premier League by a seven-point margin.
There is no doubt a lack of continental competition helped the Blues in their pursuit of the title, but they will have no such luxury in 2017/18. Chelsea are back in the Champions League and they need to prepare for challenges at home and abroad.
Fortunately, Conte’s side already have a strong squad with quality in reserve. Perhaps the most obvious individual example of this is Willian, who started more Premier League games on the substitutes’ bench than on the pitch last term.
Our friends at Football Whispers believe a strong argument can be made that, if Chelsea wish to both retain their league title and enjoy a long Champions League run, as few as four new recruits will be necessary.
