Dynamo Kiev midfielder, Lukman Haruna, says he is happy at the Ukrainian club, despite his exclusion from the Super Eagles.
Haruna, who captained the Golden Eaglets to a third U-17 World Cup triumph at South Korea 2007, has not been invited to the Eagles since he represented Nigeria at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The 22-year-old, who expressed his delight at the achievements of the senior national team since Stephen Keshi took charge, insisted that he is good enough to play for Nigeria.
“The most important thing for me is that I have been giving my best at Dynamo and the fans appreciate that,” the Egypt 2009 U-20 World Cup player, told our correspondent on the telephone on Wednesday.
“I have played regularly for Dynamo since I joined them from Monaco two years ago. I know a lot of people expect to see me in the national team because of my club performances but if I am not invited, what can I do? I am a Nigerian and will always be ready to play for my country if invited. ”
Dynamo, who are competing in the Europa League, are currently fifth on the Ukrainian Premier League log with 18 points from 11 games, but Haruna is optimistic the team will improve.
He said, “The team has been doing well and we are trying to come back on our feet. Dynamo are one of the big European clubs, so you can never write them off. I have been here for about two years now and things are looking good for me and I am happy about that.”
Haruna and Schalke 04’s Chinedu Obasi hold the distinction as the first Nigerians to play at the U-17, U-20 and senior World Cups.
