NFF names Dedevbo as Falconets coach.

Nigeria Football Federation has named Peter Dedevbo as coach of the national U-20 women’s team, the Falconets.

Dedevbo was coach of the U-17 women’s team, Flamingos, before his new appointment.

The Delta State-born led the Flamingos to quarter-final berths at the FIFA World Cup finals in Trinidad and Tobago in 2010 and in Azerbaijan in 2012.

He will be assisted by Toyin Ayinla and Haruna Uche, who is the goalkeeping coach.

Already, Dedevbo has invited 30 players for camping ahead of the qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada next year.

The Falconets, runners-up at the Germany 2010 World Cup and semi-finalists at the following edition in Japan in 2012, are up against Burkina Faso in the first round fixtures. Nigeria host the first leg encounter later this month.

The camping begins in Abuja on Monday with six players each from Delta Queens and Rivers Angels.

Some of the players are Saran Nnodim (Delta Queens), Victoria Aidelomon (Pelican Stars), Fasilat Adeyemo (Confluence Queens), Oluchi Ofoegbu (Delta Queens), Halimat Ayinde (Delta Queens), Bidemi Aluko (Rivers Angels), Cynthia Aku (Rivers Angels), Patience Okaeme (Delta Queens), Mabel Michael (Ibom Queens) and Jiroro Idike (Delta Queens).

Culled from Punch.
