The 42-year-old tactician resigned following Abafana Besthende’s 3-2 triumph over Wits in a Telkom Knockout round of 16 encounter last Friday.
According to the Daily Sun website, player power could be the reason behind Mngqithi’s departure from Arrows.
It was also reported that the former AmaZulu coach was fed up with constant criticism coming from senior players such as captain Thanduyise Khuboni.
“Manqoba could no longer bear the clashes he constantly had with some senior players recently,” a close source to the team revealed.
However, club spokesperson, Vusi Vilakazi, reacted with shock to the news.
“It’s news to us that the coach had clashes with players.”
Mngqithi was replaced by Mark Harrison on Monday after he handed his resignation to his former employers, Chippa United.
It remains to be seen where Mngqithi would be in the future but he is currently linked with a possible move to struggling Polokwane City.
Arrows' next instalment in the Telkom Knockout is a quarter-final clash against Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on October 23.
