Jamie Vardy will be out to score again – but will Dele Alli make the Spurs team?
Arsenal will go top of the Premier League if they win at Everton on Tuesday, while champions Leicester City will look to follow up their 4-2 defeat of Manchester City at the weekend with victory at Bournemouth.
There are two matches tonight, and eight on Wednesday – three starting 15 minutes before the others to add to the ‘Wizard Wednesday’ feel and possibly allow Sunderland to crawl out of the drop zone for a very short space of time.
So here’s a game-by-game synopsis.
TUESDAY
Bournemouth v Leicester
Jamie Vardy wants to bring in the best trigonometrists in Europe in his quest to score from an even more acute angle against the Cherries (if one exists) following his hat-trick completing strike against Manchester City but is struggling to ‘sine’ one up at such short notice.
Expect Bournemouth not to adopt the ‘no-man defence’ trialled by City and not allow Foxes players a hectare of space each in the opening 20 minutes.
Everton v Arsenal
While Ronald Koeman looks to halt Everton’s horrible run of seven points from the last 30 – their only win against West Ham doesn’t really count – Gunners boss Arsene Wenger begins his countdown to the annual Champions League exit to Bayern Munich by looking to displaceChelsea at the top.
Expect Arsenal to dominate possession and have around 20 efforts on goal – but look forRomelu Lukaku to plague the Gunners’ back four and give them their biggest test for a long time.
